On 11th February, 1915 the 2nd East Yorkshire battalion of 83 Brigade, 28th Division left their billets in Vlamertinghe and marched to Ypres and the trenches at Zwarteleen where they had to contend with considerable sniping. Charles Kimber was killed on 13th February when the only thing that the battalion diary recorded was that there was heavy rain. |
